Take a deep dive into the history of Pogopalooza — the Wold Championship of Pogo!
Weaving together interviews with the people who made Pogopalooza what it was with highlights of the greatest stunts, high jumps, records and runs. This film is a detailed look at the event which serves as the beating heart of the sport of Extreme Pogo, and all the blood, sweat, tears, and bails that have made it happen over the years.
About Pogopalooza: On August 13th 2004, the first ever Pogopalooza was held in a church parking lot in Lincoln Nebraska, where a handful of attendees bounced around on spring pogo sticks and competed for the grand prize of a bag of trail mix. Since then the sport has grown to feature athletes jumping 12 feet in the air and doing flips, while Pogopalooza has evolved into the World Championships of Pogo. From humble parking lot beginnings, the event has bounced between the highs of a 3 country world tour in 2015, to nearly collapsing in 2017, and now finding a home here in Pittsburgh (ironically, once again in a Parking lot). Pogopalooza is part competition and part family reunion for the niche sport of Extreme Pogo sticking (which is made up of fewer than 100 enthusiasts worldwide.) This DIY labor of love is put together by a community trying to build and share a sport with the world, and figure out exactly what it means to succeed at the goal of legitimizing a sport.
At 7:00pm, before the movie screens, Pogopalooza competitors will do a demo of tricks and extreme pogo high jump outside the theater at The PNC Parking Lot, so you can see their unbelievable stunts for yourself and get a taste for the competition. The film will screen at 7:30.
Pogopalooza 2025 will take place June 20-22 in Downtown Pittsburgh and Xpogo’s HQ in Wilkinsburg and is free to attend. See the full schedule and register to attend here.
